‘Die Sonne’ now stands, gleaming, on Auslandschweizerplatz in Brunnen.
Last Saturday, 12 September 2026, Ugo Rondinone’s golden artwork was officially unveiled, with a large turnout from the local community and the municipality of Ingenbohl. The artist behind the new landmark on Auslandschweizerplatz was present in person and handed over this beautiful piece to the public “with great joy and as a special honour”.
On behalf of the foundation, President Alex Hauenstein and the Foundation Board, as well as Edgar Steiner, Vice-President of the municipality, welcomed those present. First and foremost, of course, was the artist Ugo Rondinone, a Brunnen resident who had travelled specially from Istanbul.
Speaking on behalf of the sponsors were Municipal President Iréne May, Landammann Sandro Patierno and Michel Degen, CEO of SZKB.
